Human Resources Manager

Job Summary

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for managing all human resources activities.  This includes, but not limited to recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, Safety, developing and implementing HR policies and procedures, and compliance with laws and regulations.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage the recruitment process including placing advertisements, interviewing, and pre-employment testing.
  • Oversee onboarding and orientation programs.
  • Provide and explain benefit information to employees when they become eligible.
  • Oversee performance management and review process.
  • Assess and respond to high level employee relations issues including employee misconduct, harassment and discrimination, handle disciplinary actions and terminations.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze turnover data.
  • Maintains compliance with and advise on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Develop policies and procedures including the maintenance of the Employee Handbook.
  • Serve as a contact for employees and answer questions regarding HR policies and procedures and employee benefits.
  • Serve as the Safety Coordinator including maintenance and improvements to all safety programs, training and documentation, worker’s comp and OSHA requirement.
  • Develop, implement and coordinate employee and leadership development training and resources.
  • Serve as the human resources process leader for ISO standards and process improvements.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture and team philosophy environment.
  • Perform other tasks as warranted or assigned by management.
Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment

The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions with protection from weather conditions. The employee is regularly exposed to repetitive motion presented by navigating a computer and typing.

Physical Requirements

The employee is required to have visual acuity to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to focus. The employee on a continuous basis will be required to sit, twist/turn and neck flexion/extension.  This position requires continuous hand and finger dexterity, wrist rotation and extension, and grasping. The employee on an occasional basis will be required to stand, walk, reach with their arms, squat/kneel, forward bend, push/pull, neck rotation, forearm rotation and light pinch. The employee may occasionally be required to lift up to 50lbs and carry up to 30 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years of Human Resources management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • The ability to communicate with both internal and external customers characterized by honest, professional, respectful communication (verbally & in writing) and effective listening skills.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Organization and records management skills.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits.
  • Ability to develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
  • Self-starter and ability to work effectively with team members.
  • High level of dependability.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements.
